Cookie Policy
Last updated: 2 September 2026
1. Purpose of this Policy
This Cookie Policy explains how Veriserv (Pty) Ltd uses cookies and similar technologies on https://veriserv.co.za.
It must be read with the Veriserv Privacy and POPIA Policy and Website Terms and Conditions.
2. What cookies are
Cookies are small data files stored on a user's device when a website is visited. Similar technologies may include local storage, pixels, tags, software development kits and embedded third-party content. These technologies can remember settings, support security, measure website use and enable external content.
Some cookie information may qualify as personal information when it identifies a user or can reasonably be linked to an identifiable person. Veriserv will process that information in accordance with POPIA and other applicable law.
3. Types of cookies the website may use
3.1 Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies support functions required for the website to operate securely and correctly. They may be used to:
- maintain website and form security;
- balance traffic and maintain sessions;
- remember cookie preferences;
- prevent fraudulent or automated submissions; and
- provide functions specifically requested by the user.
These cookies cannot ordinarily be disabled through the website's consent control because the website may not function correctly without them. They can still be blocked through browser settings, although this may affect website operation.
On this website the only strictly necessary cookies are those set by the website security and firewall service, and they are set only when an administrator is signed in. No strictly necessary cookie is set when an ordinary visitor browses the website.
3.2 Functional cookies
Functional cookies remember choices or enable additional features, such as embedded maps, media, language preferences or enhanced contact functions. If a third-party feature is used, that provider may receive technical and usage information.
3.3 Analytics and performance cookies
Veriserv uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the website, identify errors and improve performance. Information may include pages visited, visit duration, referring pages, browser type, device type and approximate location derived from an internet protocol address.
Google Analytics sets first-party cookies on the visitor’s device and processes the information on Google’s infrastructure. The cookies used are listed in the cookie register below. Analytics is configured to limit collection to what is reasonably necessary and is not used for behavioural advertising.
3.4 Advertising or marketing cookies
The current website copy does not establish a need for behavioural advertising cookies. Veriserv will not activate advertising or cross-site marketing cookies unless they are deliberately implemented, recorded in this Policy and handled in accordance with applicable consent and direct-marketing requirements.
4. Embedded content and third-party services
The website may use or link to third-party services, including:
- Google Analytics, which measures website use and performance;
- additional website security and firewall measures, which protect the website and its forms against attack and misuse;
- video, media or social content if added to the website;
- email, form or communications services; and
- fleet management or client portal links.
Third-party content may set cookies or collect technical information when it loads. Where practicable, non-essential embedded content should be blocked until the user makes the relevant cookie choice.
Third-party providers process information under their own terms and privacy notices. Veriserv does not control cookies placed directly by independent third parties.
5. Current cookie register
The following cookies and similar technologies are in use on the live website. No advertising or cross-site marketing technologies are used.
| Cookie or technology | Provider | Purpose | Category | Duration | Cross-border processing |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google (Google Analytics 4) | Distinguishes visitors so that website use can be measured | Analytics | Two years from the last visit, being the Google default | Yes, processed by Google outside South Africa |
| _ga_P8Z0JNGBBL | Google (Google Analytics 4) | Maintains the analytics session state for this website | Analytics | Two years from the last visit, being the Google default | Yes, processed by Google outside South Africa |
| Administrator security cookies | Website security and firewall service | Identifies a signed-in administrator to the website firewall and supports login alerting. These cookies are not set for ordinary website visitors. | Strictly necessary | Set by the provider | The cookies are first-party. The security service is operated from outside South Africa. |
Website security measures also process the internet protocol address and request information of every visitor in order to identify and block malicious traffic. This is a security function rather than a cookie, and it operates whether or not cookies are accepted.
Veriserv will scan the live website again whenever a plugin, form, analytics tool, embedded feature or security tool is added or changed, and will record the applicable cookie names, providers, purposes, categories, durations and cross-border processing here. No unverified cookie names or durations will be published, and the revision date of this Policy will be updated when the register changes.
6. Cookie choices
On the first visit, the website should provide a clear choice concerning non-essential cookies. The user should be able to:
- accept all available non-essential categories;
- reject non-essential cookies;
- select categories where the consent platform supports this; and
- change or withdraw a choice later through an accessible cookie-settings link.
Rejecting non-essential cookies must not prevent access to ordinary website content, although optional embedded functions may not operate.
7. Browser controls
Most browsers allow users to view, delete or block cookies and to restrict future cookie placement. Browser controls vary and may affect website functionality. Clearing browser storage may also remove saved cookie preferences, which means the website may ask for a choice again.
8. Retention
Cookies remain for a session or for the period recorded in the current cookie register. Information generated through cookies is retained only for as long as necessary for the stated purpose, legal requirements, security, analysis or the establishment and defence of legal rights.
9. Cross-border processing
Google Analytics processes website usage information on Google infrastructure outside South Africa, including in the United States. Veriserv relies on the safeguards permitted by section 72 of POPIA for that transfer, and processes the information under the Google Analytics terms and Google’s privacy notice.
The website security and firewall service used by Veriserv is operated from outside South Africa and may process the internet protocol address and request information of a visitor for security purposes.
Where a further third-party cookie or embedded-content provider is introduced, Veriserv will assess the provider and apply cross-border safeguards consistent with section 72 of POPIA. The cookie register above identifies known cross-border processing.
10. Changes to this Policy
Veriserv may update this Policy when cookies, website functions, service providers or legal requirements change. The revised version will be published with an updated revision date.
